Today we had the joy of handing over a new home to an elderly couple who, for many years, had been living in very hard conditions.
Their old house was barely holding together. The walls were cracked and crumbling, the roof was made of patched zinc sheets that let in the rain, and the rooms were divided only by sheets and pieces of cloth hung from the beams. At their age, after a lifetime of work, this was the home they came back to each night.

The couple’s home before
It is not easy to grow old in a place like this. There was little protection from the weather, little privacy, and little comfort. But they kept going, with the quiet dignity of people who have learned to be grateful for what they have.
Their home today
Today, thanks to your support, they have a real house: solid walls, a roof that holds, a proper bathroom, a kitchen, and a bedroom of their own. A safe and dignified place where they can finally rest.

We give thanks to God, who looks after the elderly and never forgets the poor. And we thank each of you, because it is through your hands that He provided this home. This is what your generosity makes possible.

Hoy tuvimos la alegría de entregar una nueva casa a una pareja de ancianos que, durante muchos años, vivió en condiciones muy difíciles.
Su casa anterior apenas se sostenía. Las paredes estaban agrietadas y desmoronándose, el techo era de láminas de zinc remendadas por donde entraba la lluvia, y los cuartos estaban divididos solo con sábanas y pedazos de tela colgados de las vigas. A su edad, después de toda una vida de trabajo, este era el hogar al que regresaban cada noche.

La casa de la pareja antes
No es fácil envejecer en un lugar así. Había poca protección del clima, poca privacidad y poca comodidad. Pero seguían adelante, con la dignidad serena de quienes han aprendido a dar gracias por lo que tienen.
Su hogar hoy
Hoy, gracias a su apoyo, tienen una casa de verdad: paredes firmes, un techo que no se llueve, un baño completo, una cocina y su propia habitación. Un lugar seguro y digno donde por fin pueden descansar.
La pareja en su nueva casa
Damos gracias a Dios, que cuida de los ancianos y nunca se olvida de los pobres. Y les damos gracias a cada uno de ustedes, porque fue a través de sus manos que Él proveyó este hogar. Esto es lo que su generosidad hace posible.
